Chronologisch gesehen, ist dieser Teil nicht allzu sehr vom vorherigen entfernt, daher bleibt ihr Alter gleich.

Die Grenze ist das Heimatgebiet des Hakurei-Schreins.  Von beiden Seiten liegt er sehr abgeschieden von Menschensiedlungen und ist auch noch ein wenig klein und hat weder eine bekannte Geschichte noch sonstige nennenswerte Vorzüge. Daher ist es kein Wunder, dass kaum jemand diesen Schrein besucht.
Innerhalb des Schreins sind nahezu alle fremden Grenzen null und nichtig. Allein das zeigt schon, dass die Hakurei-Grenze, die Grenze zwischen Gensokyo und der Menschenwelt, erstaunlich stark ist.
Einzig und allein die Nachkommen der Hakurei-Familie müssen in Gensokyo Regeln befolgen. Deshalb trägt Reimu immer Kleider, die wohl so eine Art Uniform darstellen sollen (Sie soll aber auch noch andere Regeln haben...). Ihr Alltag besteht darin, Rot und Weiß zu tragen, vom Rande Gensokyos aus in den Himmel Gensokyos zu starren und Tee zu trinken.
Reimu beherrscht von Natur aus verschiedene mystische Kräfte, benutzt diese aber nicht, um damit anzugeben. Immerhin ist alles so, wie es ist.
